Bart’s Academic Afternoon on "Psychiatry without Coercion – Myth or Vision"
The East London NHS Foundation Trust is hosting its monthly Bart’s Academic Afternoon event on the theme “Psychiatry without Coercion – Myth or Vision”. The hybrid event took place on 6th September, online through Zoom and offline at the Robin Brook Education Centre, St Bartholomew’s Hospital. The event highlights the work done by the WFMH on Human Rights.

The event centres on the belief that a healthy body is crucial for a sound mind, with interactive workshops, invigorating movement sessions, and inspiring talks promoting the connection between physical health, movement, and mental well-being. It will take place from 10th to 13th October in Qatar. The aim is to reshape perspectives, offer solace to those in need, and amplify the understanding that mental health is a universal right, not a privilege. Each day, the event will focus on different aspects like building resilience, self-care and mental health education, community engagement and empowerment etc.

Sensationalism or sensitivity—do words matter? The importance of communication
The National Alliance for Mental Health-India is organising the 6th J. K. Trivedi Memorial Lecture in collaboration with the World Federation for Mental Health to recognise World Mental Health Day 2023. Dr. Miriam Issac, FRCPsych, who is Chair for deaf LD steering group for the North of England will be addressing the subject, ‘Sensationalism or sensitivity—do words matter? The importance of communication’. The event was held in LRC Hall, Department of Psychiatry, Pushpagiri, Thiruvalla, Kerala, from 7th August.
